Steve McQueen Eyewear began as a collaboration between two designers united by a shared love for classic cars, especially the iconic Porsche 356 A Speedster, the model Steve McQueen famously purchased new in 1958 with the earnings from his early acting career.

The brand reflects their mutual admiration for California’s sixties and seventies aesthetic, the spirit of American counter-culture, and the charisma of Steve McQueen himself. In 2019, the founders reached out to the McQueen family to honour Steve McQueen’s legacy through a collection of premium eyewear.

1968, the year of the release of the film "Bullitt" in the USA. The success is immediate, the film becomes a cult classic, and McQueen, the film's producer, becomes a superstar. The "1968" sunglasses replicate the shape worn by the actor during filming.

Steve McQueen is scheduled to pose for French photographer Jean-Marie Périer. The meeting is disastrous, as McQueen is not in the mood. Périer manages to capture three superb shots, and the "1969" sunglasses model replicates the frames that McQueen refused to take off that day.
