Sean Connery with the car, the clothes, and all of the accessories
We decided to start at the beginning—five years before the film's release—when Fleming's novel was published by Jonathan Cape in 1959. Fleming named the villain while expressing his disdain for the designs of modernist architect Ernő Goldfinger during a game of golf. After receiving complaints, the author reached a settlement with the real Goldfinger. A first edition, first impression of the book, signed by the author, is arguably the ultimate Goldfinger gift.

If you've got the car, then you need the gear. In 2022, Anthony Sinclair, who was Sean Connery's tailor for all of his appearances as James Bond, created a 60 piece collection of made-to-order clothing to commemorate six decades of Bond style. It contains all of the key elements of the Goldfinger wardrobe, including some of the most iconic outfits ever worn by 007.

To complete a wardrobe, the right accessories are essential—and unquestionably, the most important accoutrement for a distinguished gentleman is his timepiece. The Rolex Submariner reference 6538 with the oversized 8mm “Big Crown” is among the world's most highly-coveted watches. Produced only in the latter part of the 1950s, the reference 6538 was famously worn by Sean Connery in the first Bond movie Dr. No., the following film From Russia With Love, and, of course, Goldfinger, thus solidifying its place as the grail watch for millions around the world. We have unearthed the ultimate example to add to your wish list.

Other than his wristwatch, and the occasional carnation, James Bond has never been one for personal ornamentation. However, he does wear cufflinks and a tie slide in Goldfinger. To conveniently align with both the movie and our gift guide, these items—finished in gold—have been recreated through a collaboration between Anthony Sinclair and the historic British jewellers Deakin & Francis.

Not all James Bond enthusiasts feel the need to dress or drive like their hero; many are content simply admiring the style of the characters, clothes, and cars from a distance. Naturally, this can be achieved by periodically revisiting the classic Bond movies—an act we wholeheartedly approve of—or by keeping stills and images from the films as a permanent reminder of the man who entertained, inspired, and embodied aspiration in our lives.
