Summer Suits by Pope & Bradley

The sun finally began to shine in London this week, so we thought we should remind everyone of the Spring/Summer collection of suits offered by historic British brand Pope & Bradley... and we've recruited some of the company's customers to show them in action.

One of my personal favourite fabrics for warmer weather is the lightweight Tropical cloth. It has a plain, open weave, which offers a comforting degree of ventilation - particularly when the suit is half-lined.

A seriously cool suit
My number one go-to suit for the summer is a solid seersucker, which I can pair with a t-shirt or a collar and tie. The double-breasted style offers a touch of formality to what is a very relaxed and comfortable suit to wear.

Throughout the 20th century, seersucker fabric was usually seen in a narrow, sky-blue and white pattern, but is now available in a wide range of solid colours, together with checks and bold stripes... as favoured by master coachbuilder and Pope & Bradley customer, Lance McCormack.

As you can see, Lance tends to run cool, and doesn't always require superlight suits, even in the warmest environment. There is no doubt that slightly heavier cloths tend to tailor better than lightweights, and Lance wears Four Season fabrics throughout the year.

Lance's eldest son Merlin has not only inherited his father's love of everything two and four-wheeled, he's also become a fan of Pope & Bradley tailoring and in particular the bright range of colours in the Rainbow collection, woven by Italian mill Fratelli Tallia di Delfino.

Merlin knows how to make his wardrobe work, and will often split the components of his suits to wear with other tailored garments. He gave his Hopsack Blazer a stylish twist by adding white mother-of-pearl buttons, and combined this summer staple with the white trousers from his Optic White Rainbow Suit.

Merlin likes to make a statement with his clothes... and his cars! For a summer wedding in California, he made sure that his Linen Suit in Dark Sand would co-ordinate perfectly with his cowboy boots, Stetson and stretch limo. Pope & Bradley's endless choice of style options means your summer suit will always meet your unique requirements.
