On Her Majesty's Secret Service

£12,500
Fleming, Ian.
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Jonathan Cape, London, 1963

Notes

First edition, first impression, of the tenth James Bond novel. Author's presentation copy inscribed to Denise Robins on the front free endpaper, "To Denise with best wishes from Ian". In October 1963 Fleming presented the awards at the Romantic Novelists' Association, where he met Denise Robins, the then-president of the Association, and they "chatted about the burning issue of their profession: should they cross the threshold of the bedroom?" (Lycett). It is likely that he gave Robins OHMSS around this time.

Description

Octavo. Original dark brown boards, ski track design to front board in white, titles to spine in silver. With the dust jacket. Housed in a black quarter morocco solander box by the Chelsea Bindery.

Condition

A near fine copy in a very good dust jacket indeed, red lettering on the spine faded as usual.
