1964 Jaguar E-Type Series One 3.8 Roadster

£159,995 | Location: United Kingdom

This stunning E Type was manufactured on 7th August 1964 in right hand drive ‘home market’ configuration, finished in Opalescent Dark Blue coachwork with Light Blue trim and a Black hood.

The original distributor was Henlys Limited and the supplying dealer was Halls Limited of Finchley, London. Dispatched on 20th August 1964 to Mr M.J.A. Foster of London E2 and registered KMF 563B, the number it retains today.

According to a story told by a previous owner, it is understood the original owner was an ‘Eastender’ of dubious merit who acquired the Jaguar as a means to evade Police, should the situation arise! Sold by the first owner within the first few years of its life and retained by the second owner, Mr Robert Fincher, for many years until 1999 where he reluctantly sold the Jaguar to a close friend due to ill health.

Acquired by the vendor (the fourth owner) in June 2003, a private UK based Jaguar enthusiast. By that time the E Type was showing signs of age and in need of a restoration, having been painted Canary Yellow by the first owner in the late 1960s. The vendor noted its original and desirable colour combination and drove the Jaguar sparingly in his first couple of years of ownership, knowing a full restoration was imminent.

The restoration began in 2005 and the E Type was fully stripped to a bare metal rolling chassis, the engine was fully rebuilt, the suspension was ‘poly bushed’, full interior re-trim, new radiator, dynator, and Coopercraft front brakes were fitted.

The restoration took just under two years and was used regularly for a further four years until the IRS unit was removed, refurbished and Coopercraft brakes were fitted to the rear. The vendor has travelled extensively across Europe in this car during his ownership and has found the Jaguar to be a very capable and enjoyable touring car, travelling across the Alps regularly and as far as Venice.

Cherished throughout his seventeen years of ownership, this glorious British icon is supplied with an extensive history file which contains a JDHT heritage certificate confirming its original and desirable specification, multiple restoration and parts invoices, original tool kit & jack, luggage and very rare hardtop.

One of just 942 ‘home market’ Series One 3.8 Roadsters with right hand drive steering configuration from a total number of 15,498 Series One 3.8 E Type’s constructed, this well sorted example is ready for its next long term custodian to use and enjoy and represents exceptional value for money in the current marketplace.
